To Disappear

I no longer fade into oblivion as easily as I once could. There are too many people who care, who wish to know more. Oblivion was a curious place to exist, as empty as it was full of like-minded souls who chose their poison. There is a deep comfort in being oblivious to the world around you. An even deeper one in having the world forget you. To have been a ghost, or a ghostly entity is easier than it sounds. It is also easier done than said.

It becomes easier to observe others without judgement. Mild amusement becomes your favourite emotion, for it is one you shall notice above all others. There will be more to look at, more to take in silently. Often enough, we ruin the better things in life by talking. The milling crowds will assume a shade in monochrome and cease to affect you. In fact, unless spoken to directly, unnecessary conversation becomes a rare priviledge.

Then again, you'll laugh a little more everyday when others become oblivious to you. For nobody will notice and attempt to stop you. The world stops noticing your sudden streak of good luck, for it frequently forgets to send some bad luck your way. The colours have a shine about them, like they've been hiding beautiful secrets that are ready to show themselves.

And once you are addicted to the ways of this particular world, you'll find newer ways to stay. If the world accepts you back, forget them. When there is too much love, grab it and forget the heartbreaks. The days will come with bigger and better ways to fade into the blind spot that people have for you. But you'll take it all with a smile on your face. Oblivion does that to you.
